The What Academy
Before asking how to succeed, understand what truly matters.
Programs for aspiring founders, emerging leaders, campus talent, and the organisations that develop them.
Who This Is For
Before asking how to succeed, we need to understand what we're actually building — and why it matters.
You have the ambition and the idea. The What Academy gives you the operating reality most founder education skips.
You graduate students who are technically strong but operationally unprepared. Our campus programs bridge that gap before Day 1 at work.
You're managing a workforce that thinks, communicates, and works differently. Understanding them isn't optional anymore — it's a retention and performance issue.
You're competent and ambitious. The question is whether you're relevant — to your organisation, your team, and the pace things are moving at.
Programs
Students graduate with technical knowledge but without business fluency. This 2-day intensive teaches the operating reality — how organisations actually work, what accountability looks like, and how to navigate the first three years of a career.
The workforce has changed. This program helps HR leaders, L&D heads, and senior managers understand the new-age employee — not to pamper them, but to lead them effectively and retain the talent worth keeping.
Most founder education focuses on idea validation and funding. This cohort focuses on the operating reality — what it actually feels like to build, what decisions haunt you later, and what most founders aren't told before they start.
For mid-career leaders wondering what relevant leadership looks like in an era of AI disruption, compressed timelines, and teams that work differently than they did five years ago. How do you stay indispensable?

Program 01 — Deep Dive
Bridging the gap between academic preparation and workplace reality.
Most campus placements place technically competent graduates into organisations — and then wonder why the first year is so painful for everyone involved. Students know their subject. They don't know how organisations actually work.
They haven't been taught what accountability really looks like. They don't understand why communication matters more than capability in the first 90 days. They've never had to navigate a hierarchy, manage up, or deal with ambiguity that has no answer key. This program fills that gap before it becomes a performance issue.
Colleges and universities who want to differentiate their placement outcomes. Corporate HR teams who want to reduce the cost of onboarding underperformance. The audience is final-year students or recent graduates across any discipline.
A 2-day intensive workshop, delivered on-campus or virtually. Cohorts of 30–120 students. High interaction, no slide-reading — Pradeep runs this as a conversation, not a lecture. Real scenarios, real questions, real answers.
Program 02 — Deep Dive
Understanding a workforce that has fundamentally changed.
The workforce born between 1995 and 2010 communicates differently, processes feedback differently, and defines meaningful work differently than every generation before them. And most organisations are still trying to manage them with approaches that worked in 2005.
The result: high attrition, disengagement that looks like attitude problems, and a widening gap between what organisations offer and what this workforce actually needs. The cost is real — in time, in money, and in institutional knowledge that walks out the door.
This program doesn't validate entitlement. It builds understanding — so that HR heads and senior managers can lead this workforce more effectively, retain the talent worth keeping, and stop misreading what's actually happening.
HR heads, L&D leaders, and senior managers in mid-size and large organisations who are hiring, managing, and trying to retain Gen Z and younger millennial employees. The audience is people leaders — not the employees themselves.
Program 03 — Deep Dive
The operating reality most founder education won't tell you about.
Most founder education is taught by people who've either never built a business, or who've had such a specific experience that it doesn't generalise. It focuses on funding rounds, product-market fit, and pitch decks — and almost completely ignores what it actually feels like to build something when you don't know if it'll work.
This cohort is different. It's not about validation frameworks or investor relations. It's about the operating reality — the decisions that feel impossible, the loneliness that nobody warns you about, the things that will haunt you at 2am if you're not prepared for them.
6 weeks, 2 sessions per week (evenings, online), plus one full in-person day in Bengaluru. Cohort size is 15–20 — small by design, so that real conversation is possible. No lecture format. Every session is built around questions, scenarios, and honest discussion.
Aspiring founders who are 6–24 months from starting something. People who are serious — not just curious. You don't need to have a business yet, but you should be genuinely considering it. This cohort is not for passive learning.
Program 04 — Deep Dive
How mid-career leaders stay indispensable as everything changes around them.
Most organisations aren't openly discussing which of their senior managers are becoming irrelevant. But the conversation is happening in boardrooms and HR reviews every quarter. Mid-career leaders — people with 10, 15, 20 years of experience — are suddenly finding that what made them successful in the past isn't automatically going to keep them relevant going forward.
AI is changing what knowledge work looks like. Teams that used to require deep expertise now require something else: judgment, clarity, and the ability to navigate uncertainty. The leaders who thrive in the next decade won't be the most experienced — they'll be the most relevant.
This program answers the question: what does relevant leadership look like now?
The Relevance Leadership Program is designed as a workshop series for corporate teams, linked to the Relevance podcast hosted by Pradeep. Programme participants will have direct access to podcast guests and live conversation sessions. Details being finalised for Q3 2026 launch.

The Founder
The What Academy was created by Pradeep Srinivasan — with a simple belief: before asking how to succeed, we must first understand what truly matters.
Pradeep brings 24 years of operational leadership across some of India's and the world's largest organisations. He's not a trainer who teaches theory — he's an operator who builds structure for a living.
If you're running a business between ₹10 Cr and ₹150 Cr, Pradeep also runs Why and How Advisory — operational consulting for founder-led businesses.
Most people ask how before they're clear on what.
What business am I actually building? What leader do I need to become? What kind of organisation does this need to be?
Get the what right, and the how becomes much clearer.
— Pradeep Srinivasan, Founder, The What Academy
